The Full Metal Jacket

One of my favourite movies of all time is Stanley Kubrick's 1987 Vietnam War masterpiece,
The Full Metal Jacket. It is a genius blend of
Vietnam War training and combat. The movie stars Matthew Modine, Adam Baldwin, Vincent D'Onfrio, and R. Lee Ermey andwas shot entirely in England at Pinewood Studios and
military barracks. It is a perfect representation of what Vietnam was like.
It deals with a bunch of soldiers going through training at Paris Island. Their hard ass drill instructor picks out one
soldier (Private Pyle) as the one to torture throughout the boot camp segment. After an unexpected
encounter between Pyle and the instructor, action shifts to Vietnam, where Private Joker is now serving as a combat
journalist. I won't give away the ending but I can say with much certainty that it is the best ending to a Vietnam War
movie I have ever seen.
