The Matrix Trilogy

Almost the best movie series I have ever seen, The Matrix series of films, directed by the Wachowski brothers, is a visual effects filled trip into philosiphical ramblings that make you think; Is the world really what it seems?

The Matrix

The Matrix was released in 1999 and was an instant hit. It stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss. The visual effects were awesome, instantly drawing in fans by the thousands and, eventually, the millions. The story deals with a computer hacker who contacts a mysterious group of rebels. They then show him "the real world". This movie used a new graphical style known as "Flo-Mo", more commonly known as "Bullet Time" in which time slows down, leaving bullet trails and after-images in it's wake. The Matrix: Reloaded

The Matrix was a smash hit, but fans wanted more. Their wishes came true in 2003 with the release of "The Matrix: Reloaded". It didn't receive quite as much good standing as it's predecessor, but was still considered an amazing movie. This entry deals with Neo trying to save Zion from the machines, and trying to save Trinity too. Visit the IMDB page for The Matrix: Reloaded.

The Matrix: Revolutions

Announced at the same time as Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions is the third and final entry in The Matrix Trilogy. It, oddly enough, received extremely critical reviews from everybody that saw it. I, personally, think that it is a great movie. It deals with Neo attempting to vanquish the machines once and for all. Visit the IMDB page for The Matrix: Revolutions.

The Animatrix

The Animatrix is a collection of several animated short films, detailing the backstory of the Matrix universe. The films each have a different purpose. I will not go into detail here as to the plot of each; you will need to find out that yourself. Visit the IMDB page for The Animatrix.
